چکیده

We review recent progress in the theory of neutron matter with particular emphasis on its superfluid properties. Results of quantum Monte Carlo calculations of simple and realistic models of uniform superfluid neutron gas are discussed along with those of neutrons interacting in a potential well chosen to approximate neutron-rich oxygen isotopes. The properties of dilute superfluid Fermi gases that may be produced in atom traps, and their relations with neutron matter, are illustrated. The density dependence of the effective interaction between neutrons, used to describe neutron-rich systems with the mean field approximations, is also discussed.

Systematic analysis of the deformations of proton and neutron densities in even-even C isotopes was done based on the method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. The E2 transition strength was discussed in relation to the deformation. We analyze the B(E2; 2 + 1 → 0 + 1) in 16 C, which has been recently measured to be abnormally small. The results suggest the difference of the deformations bet...

In this work we calculate the 1 S 0 gap energies of Λ hyperons in neutron star matter. The calculation is based on a solution of the BCS gap equation for an effective G-matrix parameterization of the Λ−Λ interaction with a nuclear matter background, presented recently by Lanskoy and Yamamoto. We find that a gap energy of a few tenths of MeV is expected for Λ Fermi momenta up to about 1.3 fm −1....

The fundamental structure of the full set of solutions of the BCS P2 pairing problem in neutron matter is established. The relations between different spin-angle components in these solutions are shown to be practically independent of density, temperature, and the specific form of the pairing interaction. The spectrum of pairing energies is found to be highly degenerate. Typeset using REVTEX
